This mural is located in Cool, California, at 5030 Ellinghouse Drive. As the first of David Nessl’s murals for Holiday Market, it depicts the historic construction of Sutter’s Mill, with California miners at work on the right side of the composition. In the foreground, partially framed by California poppies, a miner and two working dogs lead the viewer’s eye toward the centrally positioned No Hands Bridge. Surrounding the scene are depictions of regional outdoor life, including whitewater rafters, hikers, and views of the Auburn area bridges spanning the North and South Forks of the American River, creating a cohesive tribute to the area’s history and landscape.
